The weeds are killed by decreasing the pH level of the soil into higher acidic, which deprives the weeds of water supply. The pH level of the soil goes back to normal within 48 hours.

Another preventer is salt. Spread generous amount of rock salt on the unwanted grass and on the soil where they grow. Be careful not to put salt on the plant soil and on your plants.

Some grass killer come in ready-to-use formula. You just place some of it on a spray bottle and spray where you need it. Of course, you have to be careful not to spray on your plants. To protect them, you can use plastic bags to cover the plants while you spray.

There is also weed preventer in a concentrated formula. You will need water to dilute the solution. These products come with instructions. It is best that you follow the directions for best results, and for protection of your precious plants in the garden.
