AIT-3 Sony Drive, part number AIT-i260/S, features breakthrough technologies that help to satisfy the growing demands of modern enterprises. Media Capacity offered by AIT-3 Sony drive reaches 100GB. This can be extended with 2.6:1 compression. So after the compression, the data administrators can record more amount of information, which is 260GB.

WORM (write once read many) is a useful and powerful technique, which prevents over-writing, changes and tampering to the preserved data. This powerful technology has been employed to the AIT-i260/S Sony drive. Focusing on the needs of organizations, Sony manufactures 2 different forms of AIT3 backup tapes. These are WORM and rewritable tapes. SDX3-100W tape has a WORM enabled media and SDX3-100C AIT-3 cartridge allows data re-writing.

High speed Sony AIT-i260/S drive provides 100% surety that your previous investment will be protected. The data which you have recorded on the previous AIT tapes, including AIT 1 and AIT 2, can be easily retrieved by the AIT-i260/S AIT-3 drive. New data can also be written to AIT2 and AIT1 tapes with the AIT-i260/S tape drive. Sony AIT-i260/S drive can perfectly read / write the following tapes:

Sony AIT2 tape, part number SDX3-100W
Sony AIT 3 WORM tape, part number SDX3-100C
Sony AIT2 tape, part number SDX2-36C
Sony AIT 2 WORM tape, part number SDX2-50W
Sony AIT-2 tape, part number SDX2-50C
Sony AIT 1 tape, part number SDX1-35C
Sony AIT 1 tape, part number SDX1-25C

For cleaning purpose, you can use Sony’s SDX1-CL cleaning cartridge. SDX1-CL cleaning cartridge can also be used with the AIT-2 and AIT-1 drives. High performance AIT-i260/S Sony drive has a newly designed read/write head, which provides unmatched data reliability up to 50,000 tape contact hours. Smooth and tough base film of AIT-3 tapes has the ability to deliver excellent results with an average of 30,000 passes. Longer working life of both AIT-3 drive and tape cartridges will help to secure the IT investments and result in improved ROI.

Sony has raised the transfer speed of Sony AIT-i260/S tape drive to 12 Mbps, which is needed by the data rich environments. Sony is famous for its innovative and high performance technological solutions. Sony has employed a new technology called “super head cleaner” system in its AIT-i260/S AIT-3 drive. The main purpose of this system is to reduce the need for periodic cleaning. With the help of this high performance head cleaner technique, the AIT-i260/S drive delivers 400,000 POH MTBF, which makes it the industry’s leading tape drive format. AIT-i260/S tape drive features the option of 68-Pin Single ended Connector and ultra 160 SCSI interface.
