The Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed by Peter Jackson who was born in New Zealand. As a result, all of the films were produced in various locations all over the country. The trilogy, which earned many different awards, got filmed in over 150 separate locations throughout the country. Fans of the series may someday wish to travel to these locations to see for themselves where their favorite shots were conducted.
Reason for Choosing New Zealand
New Zealand was the place where Jackson was born but the reasoning for filming the series here also was based in the fact that he owns his own film company called Three Foot Six and hi-tech digital studios called Weta Digital in Wellington which is the capital of New Zealand. The locations all over the country are quite varied which provided excellent opportunities for filming all of the scenes necessary. The place where most of the adventure in New Zealand happens, Queenstown, is where the Pillars of Argonath and Eregion Hills were filmed. Hobitton was filmed in Matamata where the hills provide an excellent setting.

How to get to these Locations
Now that you know a few of the places where filming actually took place you might be wondering just how to get there in a cost effective way that allows you to enjoy yourself in the process. This answer does not always come easy to some people but there are no worries because all you need to do is to look into renting a campervan or even a car if you want to keep it incredibly basic without any extra frills.
A good camper van or rental car will give you the experience of a life time as you navigate your own destiny. You can travel wherever you decide at whatever pace works for you. There are no other people trying to rush you through your enjoyment or being forced to go to places that serve absolutely no interest to you whatsoever.
The camper vans that are offered come in a few different sizes to accommodate various people. Not everyone is going to have the same tastes when it comes down to how they like to travel. One of the popular options is the RotoVegas since it drives similar to a car but has the space like a van to make it the perfect traveling vehicle for anyone. This van is basic and designed to comfortably fit two individuals who will sleep in the double bed which can be assembled in seconds. Cooking is available since there are two burners and a chilled bin for food storage. All utensils are also provided to make the experience even easier for you. If it is too hot don't worry because air conditioning is available for those times when you want to just kick back, relax, and cool off from a busy day of exploring and traveling. It is easy to drive for anyone since the transmission is automatic and the vehicle is fuel efficient for its size and type as well.
