Nail biting is a common habit amongst children. Feelings such as being nervous or anxiety can be a trigger to children gaining comfort in nail biting much the same as thumb sucking. Different children grow out of the habit once mixing with other children who do not nail bite or they start to comment to the child about what they are doing. However some children won’t stop and will continue the habit. In this instance you will need to know how to stop your child’s nail biting before they create irreparable damage to their fingers.
Now if children are biting their nails just at the tip of the nail the damage will be minimal and there is not as much to concern yourself with. However if they start biting their nails so far aas they are tering their cuticles the chance of bleeding will be higher and then infections may be a reality. The mixture of constant tearing of the nail, bleeding and infection is a recipe for disaster!
