Promotional items are a good way to catch attention. However, if you intend to give away free promotional tokens make sure that it will serve your purpose – that is to attract new customers. Promotional items should help in building up on your ultimate objective of attracting new customers to the business. Good promotional tokens abound in the internet but always be sure that you do not lose track of your main purpose.

Marketing professionals today are moving away from transactional marketing where the customers are viewed in terms of the dollar value. It is an obsolete approach and one that does not take into account the nuances of personalities. Current trends suggest that instead of transactional marketing which is limiting, practitioners should employ relationship marketing instead.

On the other hand, smaller businesses that rely on return customers would have to consider cheaper solutions.

Remember these suggestions when you consider your promotional items:

1. Your promotional item should have the name of your company prominently displayed. This is the most important consideration. A Laundromat did the smart thing of handing out eco-friendly bags with the name of their business along with contact details to all their clients. The bags did not only help the customers bring in their clothes, it also attracted more customers because of the perception that the company cares about its clients.

2. Another way in which you can increase your business is to insert flyers, brochures or card printing to your promotional gifts. Packaging the items in some sort of eye catching package can really help, as it makes them curious as well! You will find that a great percentage of persons will be attracted to your business because of the gift. Be sure to consider gifts that have uses like bags, pens, business card case or caps. Your company should veer away from items that do not have a purpose like a décor or figurine. What you want your promotional item to do is to remind your clients or customers about your business every time they use your functional giveaways.

Picking the right promotional item is trial and error. You have to have the right combination as well as the right timing to get that new customer to believe in your business.
