HP SDLT 1 tape cartridge, part number C7980A, features a durable medium that provides exceptional stability during read and write operations. Uncompressed and compressed capacity of HP C7980A backup tape is 160 GB and 320 GB respectively. SDLT320 drive supports multiple rack-mount options and ensures greater flexibility, as the drive can be used with either 3-U or 5-U rack mount kit. In 3-U rack mount, the users can install 2 internal SDLT drives and up to 4 internal Super DLT tape drives in 5-U rack mount. 5U rack mount allows 2 internal SCSI buses with support of up to two SDLT backup tape drives per bus. With 3U standard rack mount, the IT managers can use 2 internal SCSI buses with support of one Super DLT drive per bus.
HP SDLT-320 drive also provides an optional cable kit that helps the data managers to extend the internal SCSI buses from 2 to 4 in the 5U rack mount kit. This optional cable kit allow the customers to simultaneously stream all the four SDLT drives, which results in increased data transfer speed. HP has designed a new data recovery tool called “DRTape Disaster Recovery Utility”. This tool has been added to the HP SDLT 320 tape drive to further improve its media performance.
SDLT-320 drive is intelligently developed to serve the customers through its broad range of software support. The HP drive supports Yosemite Tape-Ware, HP Open View Data Protector, Computer Associates ARCserve, VERITAS Net Backup, DRTape and VERITAS Backup Exec. Operating systems supported by HP SDLT-320 include Caldera Open UNIX, Caldera Open Server, Caldera UnixWare, Caldera Linux, SuSE Linux, Red Hat Linux, OpenVMS, HP Tru64 UNIX, Novell NetWare, HP-UX, Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0.
