Bathing suit styles and trends change with the times, but with such little fabric to work with, they never stray too far from the original look. This season seems to be a bit different; some bigger changes have taken place in the swimwear styles over the past couple of years and the culmination of those alterations can be seen in this year’s styles.
Vintage: Marilyn Monroe’s style seems to be popular again in the swimwear department. Womens one piece swimwear in vintage cuts has made a big splash this year; the bunched fabric one-piece with a skirt-like bottom is hitting the stores this spring. Halter and sweetheart necklines are normally involved, and the majority of them are currently in solid colors.

Neon: Bright lime-green and other neon colors can be found on a variety of swimsuits this season. Whether as color accents to patterns or on a solid-colored suit, neon colors are getting a lot of action this year. Show your fun side with a bright orange one-piece, or a neon yellow bikini this summer.
Cut-Outs: This style has taken a few years to actually find solid ground, but people are finally coming around to the idea of such strange tan lines. There are tons of different types and styles of cut out swim suits, and many of them are extremely flattering for petite and average-sized women.Though very stylish, it is difficult to find these styles in plus-size and D-cup swimwear due to the lack of support.
Patterns: We’ve been seeing a lot of tribal patterns in a variety of colors recently. Many of these styles are also making use of teals and bright oranges as an accent as well. Look for modified paisleys and geometric tribal shapes in browns and tans with these bright color accents.
Cover Ups: Bathing suit cover ups are increasing in popularity this summer as well. Beach dresses and sheen cover ups can be found in most stores that sell women’s clothing. We have also seen an increase of hardware accents and accessories such as buttons and ‘fake’ belts.
Now that you know what to look for, you can go find your perfect swimsuit for this season!
