The most popular item of clothing, and the only one that seems to have withstood the test of time, is the denim blue jean. From its creation for industry workers in the late 1800’s to its fame among designers in 2010, jeans have been a standard clothing item for over a decade. Americans and foreigners love denim blue jeans in a wide variety of shapes, colors, and styles. From form fitting ladies cropped jeans to baggy menswear, jeans are here to stay.
One of the newest trends for jeans in 2010 is the addition of patches. All styles go through cycles, so it is no surprise that this style has returned. The modern patches are a bit different than those our mothers wore, and have powerful designers backing them rather than frugal bohemians.

While designers obviously want you to purchase their ready-made patchwork jeans, many people in the industry encourage trying it out yourself as well. There are a few tricks to the trade, but most people will humble sewing skills can make it work. You should choose contrasting shades of blue, and be sure to wash your patches before adding them to your pants.
While it is hard to say how long this trend will be around, there are quite a few blue jeans trends that have surprisingly been around for a decade or so. Womens flare jeans showed up at the turn of the century as a mild revival of bellbottoms and have yet to be left behind. Many people now opt for skinny jeans or womens boot cut jeans, but the flare is still getting more action than designers probably expected.
Skinny jeans are another great trend that is probably here to stay. The simple style was a drastic change to the flare, but they can easily be worn with heels, flats or flip flops, and are great for dressing up or dressing down. In terms of generating popularity, celebrities did the majority of the leg work, and have shown us that we can wear these skinny jeans with tight, fitted shirts, or with long and loose ones.
