Designing Posters? Try Women

The decision has been made. Women make better poster printing designers. Pause for a moment and ask yourself if this is in fact a truism.

Well, I guess there is no doubt that women are better than men in terms of designing print posters. Some would argue that men are better designers because they are by nature more visual. Try to imagine how a group of young men would react upon seeing a gorgeous lady in very short red skirt and you would know what I mean. There is no question about the assertion that men tend to fall for looks. As visual creatures, apologists for the men folk would contend that their love for beauty can be translated to some form of work of art like print posters. Well, apart from this fact that men are connoisseurs of beauty, is there any other proof that men make better designers?

Let's give it to the men folk if they think they are good designers. I would argue however that women are still better poster printing designers. It is a fact that women can develop good poster printing designs because women in general have some very specific attributes that give them a relative advantage over the men folk. Here are some reasons why women may very well make better print poster designers.

1. Women are more emotional.

Women in general are more passionate. They are moved easily by almost anything. They can get excited over a planned romantic vacation. They can easily cry while watching a touching scene from a movie. They can get agitated over something. Most importantly, women can exhibit these emotions quite intensely. These intense emotions can be summoned by any woman when designing print posters. Hence, they can create masterpieces that do not only induce strong feeling from them, but which also has the power to stimulate the emotions of their target audience. Most often than not, designs made by women are more slanted towards touching the emotions. You would know if a poster printing design was created by a woman because you would feel the intensity of the emotion.

2. Women can relate better.

This is not to suggest that men are not wired to be compassionate. It just means that women are more attuned to the feelings of others. I believe that this is an intrinsic trait common to most, if not all women. Being maternally wired, women's designs exhibit this distinct nurturing trait. Just look at the print poster design and you will be able to see that their subjects usually revolve around babies, families, homes, and feelings. Now compare this design with those created by men and you would notice what men folk are passionate about.

This compassion and the gentleness of women are reflected in the designs. This is why women are better designers if your product or services are more geared towards the family or the home.

3. Women are fair headed.

As oppose to the humongous egos of the men folk, women are fair headed. Males cannot accept criticism whether it’s constructive or destructive. They cannot accept critical observations in the same manner that a woman could. Women in general are more open and more trusting. They are less antagonistic about negative feedback when it comes to their designs. They take feedback, either negative or positive, as a reason to further challenge themselves.

So for your next print poster design, who would you rather get for the job?
