The Audio Technica ATH ANC7 Quietpoint Active Noise Cancelling headphones are one of the flagship noise canceling headphones offered by Audio Technica. Designed to be used with both high range stereo equipment or with you personal mp3 player, DVD. CD or with in-flight entertainment systems, the sound quality they offer is very good, and has been compared by some reviewers to having the band 'in your living room.
These ATH-ANC7 Quietpoint are lightweight compact headphones with a closed-back and features many of the characteristics of headphones costing 2 or 3 times the price. The ANC circuitry is very effective at reducing background noise and boasts a noise cancellation of up to 85%. Not bad for headphones that sits at the cheaper end of the market. These headphones offer superior quality for deeper bass extended treble and an amazing clarity irrespective of whether you listen to rock, jazz or classical music. A single triple A battery powers the noise-cancelling system which provides over 16 hours of power. I use rechargeables and have found them to be a cost effective way of powering my phones. The ATH ANC7 headphones have another great feature, in that the headphones fold flat for travel and have a detachable cable with 3.5 mini-plugs, a full size adapter, and an airline adapter included. A very nice carrying case is also included in the package.

When I first got my Audio technica ATH ANC7 Quietpoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones home and out of the case, plugged in, and on my ears, I was a little disappointed. I decided to leave them on with the music playing for a couple of hours to 'break them in'. I had read about this in a hi-fi magazine, and did it work! 3 Hours late I returned, turned the noise-cancelling function knob up to full and was immediately blown away by the improvement. I noticed a much higher fidelity, and a crispness and clarity that had not been there before. I sat for a while and listened to one of my favorite tracks. I heard things in that song that I had never heard before, and I've enjoyed it for years.
I decided to test the audio technica headphones noise-cancelling technology in a noisy office where I work. There's always a lot of hustle and bustle so it was a good test environment. I found that these headphones effectively reduce distracting background noise and leave me to find peace in my music. They are a fairly tight fitting headphone so you do get some passive as well as active noise-cancelling technology thrown into the equation, but the cancellation was as good as I have experienced on any headphones in the price bracket.
All in all, I can highly recommend the Audio Technica Quietpoint Active headphones for their amazing audio quality, amazing fully integrated noise reduction system that effectively reduces all but the loudest noises, the easy portability and extreme comfort. The extras like the DVD in-flight entertainment adapter makes these closed-back headphones exceptional value for money. I highly recommend them.
