A major barrier that all musicians run into when attempting to gain knowledge of the guitar is lack of motivation. This is often due to getting bored in practice times or just giving up when the newness of learning how to play guitar wears off. If you are one of those that thinks you won't do well when learning to play guitar then there is still time to change that. In this brief article, I hope to show you a few quick and valuable methods to make your rehearsal times much more entertaining and enjoyable.
The first tip is pretty obvious but a lot of new guitarists forget it. If you want to keep your rehearsal times energetic then work on something that is appealing to you. I know you may have an instructor that wants you to practice scales all the time but if you actually want to learn and master guitar then you need to work on some things that you are interested in as well. Be wary because if you don't know this when you begin learning then you will speedily lose your passion for learning to play guitar.

The second way to keep rehearsal times much lower on the uninspiring meter is to make sure and practice with a band. Now, most beginning guitarists don't have a band to practice with, so that is where jam-along tracks come in. A jam-along track is a song that has the guitar part taken out so that you can effortlessly play along with the band and learn the part while keeping rhythm with a real band. Now if you don't possess a jam-along track or don't know how to find such a thing then the substitute is just to find a ordinary CD of the song that you are attempting to learn and use it. Of course you will have to play over the guitar track so it isn't totally like being in the band but it still helps you learn to keep time and rhythm and it is much more entertaining than just trying to practice the song by yourself.
Make sure that you continually mix up what you are rehearsing on and not stick to the same song for a week. If you continue working on the same concept that you just can't quite get then you will end up being burned out. The superior solution is to take frequent breaks and swap between several techniques that you are working on. In this way you will be able to better bind the concepts to memory while also staying motivated to carry on to learn.
If you follow these easy steps then you will be well on your way to learning how to play guitar in no time at all. It really isn't as complicated as it looks if you merely put in a consistant rehearsal time and take it one step at a time. Good luck and make sure to have some enjoyment while you learn and master guitar.
