Ladakh is a young and cold desert land with the contrasts of freezing winds and burning hot sunlight. It is bounded and bisected by some of the highest mountain ranges in the world. The name Likir means "The Naga - Encircled". It consists of a number of shrines inside its complex. Presently, it serves as the residence of approximately 120 Buddhist monks.

Palaces in Ladakh - The palace in Ladakh is probably the most attractive function and is essentially the most visited website in Ladakh. On the sting of the Namgyal hill there may be the majestic setting of the palace. In seventeenth century it was the residence of the King Namgyal.
