When it comes to notable American fashion designers, Marc Jacobs tops the list. His talent has truly made him a visionary in the fashion world. Simply put, he is an amazing designer. As the headman in charge of the Louis Vuitton and his own namesake brands, his creations range from the absolutely fabulous Parisian chic to the corky and whimsical. Personally, he is one of my favorite designers. Not because he's a big name in the fashion game or because Hollywood celebutants clamor over his creations, but because he has a real sense of how to dress a woman (and dress them well) at every phase of their life. From the sophisticated ready-to-wear Louis Vuitton line to the playful and young diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs, he has a real sense of what women like and what they want to wear. Which is why when you get a Marc Jacobs dress you can be certain that you will have an absolutely beautiful piece that will be a staple in your closet for years to come.

When the New York based designer created his first season of the Marc Jacobs collection in 1986, who knew that this label would be one of the most respected and sought out brand in the world of fashion? The sophisticated yet edgy, it is hard not to drool over every piece that is shoved down the runway. Specifically their dresses each season are absolutely amazing. Aimed towards the young yet professional women, you can bet that every Marc Jacobs dress is tailored to satisfy the sophisticated tastes of the modern woman. Many of their pieces are about the play between cute and funky. Generally, past collections from this brand use a rather demur color palette, with lots of neutrals, but amps up the appeal of the clothing by adding interesting patterns, materials and other details, making for an amazing collection. Also as many premium designer labels out there, their pieces (including their dresses) come at a premium price, some costing thousands of dollars. But just to let you know a Marc Jacob's piece is an investment that you will not regret.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs collection (which is a diffusion line of the Marc Jacobs Collection brand) first made its debut in 2001. And although it is a relatively new brand, it has definitely help make Jacobs into a household name. By making a line that was affordable, it suddenly made his fashions much more accessible. But just because the line is much more cheaper, it doesn't mean by all means that the brand is cheap looking. On the contrary, this line has a great style of its own and has its signature Marc Jacobs feel to it, but in a much more vibrant and young way. Especially in their dresses, the variety of playful and fun pieces are sometimes too much to count. For the most part, under this line, they create more casual dresses that are great for everyday wear. From sweater dresses to a mini party dress to even a sweet jersey dress, this collection has it all. Also with using vibrant colors in addition to vintage 60's, 70's and 80's designs, it is no wonder why this line is popular among young twenty-somethings. And as for the cost, many of their stuff is in the low (and I mean low) hundreds, which is a great value for your wallet.
Marc Jacobs makes some incredible dresses. Whether its in his primary collection or on his Marc by Marc Jacobs line, fashionistas all across the globe are loving the Marc Jacobs dress, and to tell you the truth, I don't blame them.
