Men's Guide To The Khaki Suit

We all know that there are a few staple pieces that every man should have in their wardrobe. A pair of dress shoes, a good pair of jeans, a formal suit and a pair of casual shoes. But of all the men's fashion items out there, the casual suit is probably one of the most important pieces of menswear a man should have in their closets. Why you might ask? Well the casual suit probably gets the most usage (well maybe, besides jeans) just because you can use it in a variety of professional and personal situations. From a fancy date to an important job interview, the suit is a serious piece of clothing. Although many men opt for the run of the mill black suit (which is always the safe bet), it can often times be a tad boring and predictable. Which is why if you are in some serious need of a change in style, why not opt out for a khaki suit? You might be asking yourself, where exactly can I get away with wearing an entire khaki suit? Well let me tell you there is more to this suit than meets the eye. There are dozens of different ways to wear this fabulous menswear staple, and I am here to show you just how to do it.

What to look out for

It truly takes a special kind of man to pull off a full blown khaki suit. So if you are one of those men that think that they can pull off a full khaki look from head to toe, then why not try a simple yet classic piece with a two-button blazer. No need for double-breasted blazers, pleated pants or anything that seems a little outdated. When it comes to a modern-day suit, simplicity is the way to go.

What to wear it with

When it comes to adding a shirt to the suit, a button down is the way to go. Please don't use a t-shirt or anything of that sort when wearing a full khaki suit - it will not only look unpolished, but a little childish. Also when adding a button down shirt to the look, try to pair it with a light pastel colors of pinks and blues, or to make it even more interesting, why not try a vertical stripped button-down with complementary colors. When wearing a suit that is really light in color, you don't want to darken it with harsh blacks and muddy browns - which is why color palettes like these will look fabulous with the light and earthy khaki tones. And finally if you want to add some accessories, then by all means, please do so. An accessory that can make a suit look interesting is a pocket square, because it is an interesting way to add color and texture to an outfit. Another piece is definitely a great necktie, and when it comes to picking out the perfect tie opt for one that complements the suit as well as the shirt. Simple patterns and darker tones can offset the lightness of the suit without making it look too apparent. Also the same goes if you want to pair the look with a bow tie. Remember fellas, it's all about the balance.

How to mix it up

Just because you buy a suit, doesn't mean that you have to wear it together at all times. I am a firm believer of mixing things up, especially when it comes to fashion. And the best thing about suits is that it can be broken up to many different outfits. You can wear the blazer on its own and pair it with some nice slacks or a pair of jeans and you will be set for a great night out. Or vice versa, if you want to ditch the blazer and wear the pants half of the suit, then you can easily pair it with a great sweater and be ready to a pleasant day out.

So what do you think? Are you man enough to wear a khaki suit? Well if you are, I hope that you take these tips to heart.
