Choosing the Right Web Hosting Company

Web hosting is a space allotted to the websites to make access to the World Wide Web. There are many hosting service companies who allot space to the websites which either they own themselves or lease it. They can also give space as well as net connectivity from the servers, they do not own. These servers which are not in their domain they call it colocation.

Web hosting services are of many kinds like free web hosting services, shared web hosting services, reseller web hosting services, virtual dedicated server, managed hosting services, dedicated hosting services, cloud, clustered, and grid hosting etc. Clients have easy access to the web server which allows it to add the content in the website. These services are also delivered to the consumers in number of formats as per the needs of the clients and after taking infrastructure and cost into account. The virtual dedicated service allows the division and allocation of the servers in a way that would not show the underlying hardware. In this hosting type, it is a duty of the customer to maintain and patch the server. In the hosting service where users get full control and access of hosting their website is known as the dedicated hosting service, though they cannot claim as the owner of the server. Through this service, users have full access to the box as well as can un-manage or self manage the hosting. In other words, users are themselves responsible for the security and maintenance of their website.

Many companies offer the web hosting services absolutely free, however, with very limited services. But still they are able to make profit by covering the costs of the free services through advertisements. Some of the hosting services are also shared-based whereby space is provided to number of websites on sharing basis. Basically all domains need some kind of common resources like CPU and RAM.

There are certain things that need to be taken into consideration with the first one being space size. The small or medium size website needs between 10 to 100 MB of disk space and every HTML page needs to take between 5KB and 50KB of space, which depends on the number of images, their size and space consuming elements. Naturally for very large images or graphic elements, you should have more disk space. Basically a medium sized website has requirement of 1 GB and 5GB of data transfer every month, for e.g. if your page size is 30 KB and you want that 50,000 visitors should pay a visit to your page each month, so what you need is 1.5 GB.

These are the basic needs of a website - to have a good hosting and space but before you sign with the host provider, you should check the number of limitations on transfer your hosting provider has on monthly basis; whether there is any possibility for the website to be closed or billed if volume of traffic on the site is increased; and above all if you want to upgrade the site, then can it be easily done? The other thing that should be seen is the connection speed, in other words whether you are getting speed you require or not?

There are so many web hosting service providers that it confuses common users in deciding the most appropriate provider for their website. However, I suggest that you should try to get the hosting from the same place from where you have got your website designed and developed. It will be overall best for you and financially feasible as well.
