Laser printer is necessary for a home office. Keeping a laser printer is not the answer because it has its recurring costs. It has to have spares as and when required and ink and toner cartridge. It is beneficial to keep them handy, so that, you do not have to run to the market when there is an urgent requirement. The most expensive frequent cost is the toner cartridges.
Different shops sell toner cartridges. These toner cartridges give a fine service but not perpetually. It is available online and official supply stores. The price may vary from $17-$70 depending on the quality and durability. Refurbished cartridges are also available which cost less. These cartridges are better for the environment as it is recycled. You can refill your used cartridge for a sum of $25, which is considerably cheap then buying a new one.

You should be capable to reset the refill cartridge lest there is no other means to identify that it is serviceable. Otherwise, the laser printer will flash a message saying that it is empty. Of course, the refill cartridges may not reproduce the same result as a new one but nonetheless useful and economical. Off brand products are cheaper to use. However, branded laser printers advice using their toner cartridge or their approved product for improved result and safe handling of the machine.
Most laser printers have sensors, which respond when you run out of ink and do not print any more until replacement.However, with a simple trick of putting a black electrical tape over the sensor several more copies are produced. This is good trick, which is to be tried to save money and time for a while. Moreover, when you replace the ink or toner in a laser printer be sure to clean the head and inside properly. This prevents breakdown and improves efficiency. Never misuse the printer and use only when it is necessary.
Buying a laser printer may not be costly but the stipulation of the company to use a particular toner cartridge is not as cheap in the end. However, using off brand toner cartridge, during warranty, will affect warranty conditions. After warranty period you can choose other brands of toner cartridges but be sure that they are compatible to your printer. The other factor is do not change your cartridge only by detecting streaks in the printed paper. Some toner may be left out. Gently take out it and shake it well before reinserting and you will get many more prints out of the same toner.
