The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is located in Southwest Asia on a wide area of the Arabian Peninsula. Its western limit is defined by the Red Sea; its northern limit is defined by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Iraq and the country of Kuwait; its eastern limit is defined by the Arabian Gulf, the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman; whereas its southern limit is defined by the Republic of Yemen.
Saudi Arabia is not only the homeland of the Arab peoples—it is thought that the first Arabs originated on the Arabian Peninsula—but also the homeland of Islam, the world's second-largest religion. The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (s.a.w) founded Islam there, and it is the location of the two holy pilgrimage cities of Mecca and Medina. Its Area is 2,149,690 sq km and its Population is 27,601,038 and its capital is Riyadh, the largest city with population of 3,724,100.
