A CNA refers to a person who has completed specialized education and training and has obtained a certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant. In some places, CNAs are commonly known as nurse’s aides, home health aides, and patient care technicians. Regardless of the title, the same basic job duties apply in all cna positions. CNA positions are popular for those just starting out in the medical field, as it is an entry level position with a good salary and superb benefits.

The position of CNA is involved in assisting nurses in the overall care of the patient, as CNAs typically report directly to a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). They are an essential component in ensuring the ongoing care of the patient. A CNA will help in responding to patient needs, monitor their dietary regiments, keep tabs and report on vital signs, assist with any motor function needs of the patient, and ensure that patients are ready for any medical treatments and procedures.

A minimum of training is required for cna positions, but it may vary from state to state or country to country. Most places demand that you pass a nurse’s aide training course and show proficiency by passing a state certification exam. Some places, like nursing homes are often easier to get jobs at, than say hospitals. Due to the large number of available cna positions at any given time, it should not be difficult for someone who has completed the training and state certification to choose where they want to work.

There is always a high demand for certified nursing assistants, even during rough economic times. The job security that comes with cna positions is one of the reasons a lot of people use their certification as an entry level position in the health care industry. It is also a great idea to become a CNA, as it can help you determine if a career in nursing in right for you. In working in conjunction with nurses and doctors, you’ll develop an understanding of both professions and decide if you would like to continue your education and personal growth.

Salaries for cna positions vary depending on geographical location, the type of facility you want to work for, and a few other factors. One such factor is the area in which you work at. For example, intensive care units pay CNAs more than those that work in other low key areas of a medical facility. However, an annual salary of about $30,000 is average for these types of positions. For entry level cna positions, you can expect to start making on average $9.00 per hour. It is an excellent way to build up your personal resume for more advanced nursing jobs. Being a certified nurse’s assistant is not for everyone, but it can be an extremely rewarding and satisfying job experience. The most important thing is that cna positions will always be handily available in almost anywhere.
