Recycled golf balls are used golf balls taken from private golf courses. Some golf players do not have time to retrieve their golf balls from the golf courses, hence, golf balls manufacturers hire individuals to search for these balls and refurbish them.

As the advocacy for green earth awareness becomes widespread, almost every area in the industry considers Mother Nature before they proceed with their businesses. Refinished golf balls retain their original features and quality.

Many golf players-even professionals themselves-support such cause. They have helped save the environment, plus, they have saved a lot of money from refinished golf balls, without compromising their performances.

These refurbished golf balls are branded balls used for tournaments and important games. Recyclers ensure that in re-making the balls, players will not be able to tell the difference between brand new and recycled golf balls.

However, you need to be cautious in buying refinished golf balls. Branded manufacturers such as Titleist, Bridgestone, Callaway, Nike and Pinnacle have greater chances of retaining the original specifications.

There are three approaches in grading used golf balls. These are the Tournament, Player’s and Practice grades. In tournament grade, the balls are in mint condition. Mint quality refurbished golf balls are very similar to brand new.

They have consistent color and glossy shine. Their shading is excellent and they do not bear any path marks and scuffs. When you buy them, the original player’s pen markings or corporate logos are still visible. At times, even the team’s trademarks are still printed on these balls.

The player’s grade golf balls are in good condition. Although some of them have tiny abrasions or small discoloration, these characteristics never affect their performance in the golf courses. Player’s recycled golf balls may have imprints such as ‘X-outs’ or ‘Practice’ on the balls. Just like the Tournament grade, players may also have corporate markings.

In Practice grade, you have to expect that such balls are recycled primarily for rehearsals. They may also have imprints of team and corporate logos, and you are assured that there are no representations of coloration, tint or scuff.

Practice grade balls do not have large cuts. However, there may be visible indication of minor nicks or club marks. This type of ball is ideal for beginners who need constant practice. Moreover, if you are looking for long shots that carry over water, this type is for you.

Hobbyists prefer to use refurbished golf balls when they play with their colleagues for fun. Professionals also use used balls during their practice. There are two types of golf balls available in the market. These are Balata and Surlyn.

Balata balls are soft and use rubber-type material for more control during play. However, because of its soft plastic exterior, balata recycled golf balls are more prone to cuts and nicks that affect the ball’s trajectory. On the bright side, it has more back spin, making it ideal for professional or low-handicap players who want more control.

Surlyn has solid core wrapped with a tough plastic cover, making the ball more durable. Surlyn recycled golf balls are still able to travel farther. It is cheaper than the balata ball. If you want durability for less, surly ball is for you.
