A designer prefers to use template for creating a website that you might have tried to use at your own because that makes it easy to.
Maintaining and updating a website is not going to be fun all the time because it may change you as technical person. Also It might happen that the changes may not work the way you have visualized it. As a result the site owner will have to either increase the time between the changes or just drop the idea of going for it.

When you have created website you mostly receive templates for a newsletters or Ezine and an auto-reply feature as well as other bells and whistles that seems really cool. You probably don't have time to use them. You've got really cool stuff but the thing is you just don't have the time to learn it or use it. Or, it may happen you've got all the stuffs and enough time but you have lately discovered that content writing is not your best skill as it involves describing the great idea with proper grammar, English and style.
The Truth regarding Ezine and newsletters is, they are not fun and consume lots of time. Newsletters are your way of getting and keeping your potential customers interested in your products/services and more importantly keeping you in front of their mind when they need your service or product.
Potential customers will search using a general keyword and then start clicking as a general rule; we’ve seen that thousands of websites returned when we do a general search for a product or service. What makes us click on a certain website, if we don't know anything other than what we are looking for?
Some people have tendency to click five or six websites because they are click based on that little explanation under the website name or click through each website and only open those ones that looks interesting. The potential customers can really increase your business and bring us to the final truth of overall update, maintenance, Ezine and newsletters.
There are mainly two reasons due to that people do not maintain and update their websites regularly. The first is time, which is always limited as we've already seen. The second, website is too complex to navigate through and make changes without re-hiring the guy who created it. This can lead you to paying a huge fee to get it updated. If you've gone through this a couple of times then you already know, it can be a pretty costly proposition and also it will be pretty time consuming as well.
