The main court at the Wimbledon Championships is the Center Court, which is located at the Aorangi Park. It is the most well-known tennis venues of the world though it is mainly used for the two week Championship event. The event itself is the third grandest event of the WTA calendar. The original roof of the Center Court first got replaced in 1992. After the 2006 Championships, the second roof of the Center Court was detached. Plans were made to replace it with a retractable roof. In January 2004, the Club added the last chapter in the Long Term Plan for the Center Court. The best of tennis court construction company was hired for the job. For the 2009 Championships a retractable roof constructed by the best tennis court builders was added over the court and the seating facility was made more comfortable.

It shall prove to be of great help particularly in bad weather conditions. As the roof opens/closes the play shall be suspended. It shall resume again when the optimal playing conditions are achieved. Earlier the Center court had capacity of 13,800 spectators which has been increased to 15,000.

Six seating rows have been added to the upper tier on the north, east and west sides after the reconstruction by the tennis court builders. The spectators shall witness greater comfort with the new construction. Entrance to the court has been made easier with setting up of new and wider seats. Extra lifts and chairs have also been added for convenience of the spectators. To enable the new seating, the commentary boxes and media facilities have been removed from the upper tier and organized in new areas.
A better quality catering a greater ambience has been arranged for in the Center Court’s new east wing. It has been created by the tennis court builders for the Centre Court debenture holders as well as for the public. Both indoor and outdoor facility of catering with wider food choice is offered. Visitors will be able to enjoy in the Café Centre Court even during the non-Championship period. The tennis court builders indeed did a great job making the Wimbledon tennis court far more comfortable and protected. The new additions to the Wimbledon Championship court shall surely be a treat for the tennis lovers. No matter what the type of weather is, the game shall go on, a small break to reach the optimum conditions is just what the spectators may need to face.
