The purpose of a tweeter is to increase the treble effect in the music coming the stereo system. This enhances the quality of the music and makes the music more pleasant. There is a common thought that one can connect the tweeter straight away to the speaker. This is partially correct and partially wrong. Because in order to connect a tweeter to the speaker first one must have a frequency cross over. The purpose of this instrument is to prevent the high power coming into the tweeter that already comes to the speaker. This setup ensures the safety of the component and increases its life time. But how to wire a tweeter to a speaker?
The frequency cross over acts as a filter. It splits the sound into high frequency sound and low frequency sound. It also adjust the power that is being transmitted to the speaker. The high frequency sound is redirected to the tweeter and the low frequency sound is given to the sub woofer. There are a few tools needed to complete this task. The usage of these tools reduce the time consumed for the job. It includes a tweeter, a screw driver, soldering iron, a cross over cable, a speaker and finally a solder.

The first step to be done is to remove the connection from the negative terminal of the battery. That is we have to cut the power supply from the battery of the car. This is done to avoid short circuiting in any instrument because while working with these instruments we may actually damage it if the power from battery flows through the component continuously.
In the next step the grill covering the speaker is removed. In some times the speaker cannot be removed until the paneling is removed. So in such cases the paneling is first removed. This step is based on the make of your car this can be neglect if it is not necessary for your car. Now remove speaker with the help of a screw driver and pull it out. The wiring connection in the back side of the speaker is removed.
The next step includes the soldering of the frequency cross over cable o the speaker. The output wires of the speaker is connected to input lead of the frequency cross over. This wire are nothing but the wires that was actually connected to the stock speaker of the car.
While soldering one point should be kept clear that is the positive terminal of the cross over must be connected to the positive terminal of the speaker and in the same way the two negative terminals must be connected to each other.
Now connect the high frequency leads to the tweeter and the low frequency to the woofer. While making this connections one must clearly observe if the connection are done properly. That is positive terminal is connected with positive and negative to negative terminals.
Hence everyone should know how to wire a tweeter to a speaker after going through this piece of instruction.
