A single monitor may not be very effective in big cars and vans. In such situation, multiple monitors would ensure good visibility to all in all parts of the car. This can be done by fixing additional monitors either on the roof of the car or behind the seats. The important question is how to wire additional monitors to a car DVD?

The monitors can be fixed if the location to be fixed is known and the following things are available: a measuring tape, pencil, paper, marker, knife, fasteners, scissors, and suitable adapter. The following are a sequential procedure of fixing numerous monitors to the same DVD player.

Firstly the size of headrest of each seat is measured with the help of a measuring tape. This is done mainly to find out the size of the monitor that can be fixed. The headrest in which the monitor is to be fixed is removed off the seat.

Then the outer shape of the monitor that is to be fixed is drawn using a paper and pencil. Once it has been drawn the shape is cut out using scissors. The paper cutting is then placed behind the seat on the headrest and the paper’s outline is traced using a pencil or marker. An ‘X’ is drawn on headrest of the seat.

The headrest is cut along the shape of the ‘X’ with the help of knife. This should be done carefully. The covering of headrest is peeled and the padding is removed. This is done to give some room for the monitor that has to be fixed. The padding can be removed till the metal base of the seat is exposed.

After the foam is removed, one small hole is drilled in the bottom part of headrest. This will allow the wires to pass through that are necessary for connecting the monitor for DVD player. The fasteners are then placed in such a way that one end is on the metal base and then is set to position.

The wires for the DVD player are then run through the bars of headrest, seat and then the floor. Small holes can be cut out off the carpet to make way for the wires to pass from the floor to that dashboard. The wires for the video are then connected at the jack available in the rear of the DVD player. After the video connections are made the other end of fasteners are placed at the rear of monitor. The video wires are then connected monitor in the port for video cables. Then the monitor is fixed in its position. It has to be checked that the output and input of the video are connected to the DVD player and the monitor respectively.

Once the following steps are followed with small precautions of safety, the many monitors can be attached the same way. Hence this article on how to wire additional monitors to a car DVD can be useful.
