There are many ways to improve the sound coming from your car speaker system. Two car amplifiers may be bridged together which will be helpful in improving the sound. For driving the big speakers this kind of system can also give a very high power. Speakers like sub woofers can be given very high power using this. The amplifiers are to be connected correctly for the first time. A wrong hook up may also lead to burning of either amplifiers or your speakers or even both. But how to bridge two car audio amps?

The first step to be done before performing the task is to thoroughly check the manuals of both the amplifiers given by the manufacturer. Only the amplifiers which has got same characteristics like power etc can be bridged. If amplifiers with different power rating are bridged it may lead to malfunction or even damage to the amplifiers. Thus one should ensure that both these amplifiers have same power rating. In case there is any doubt of performing the task or in determining the match among the two it is better to drop the idea of bridging them both.
Before attempting to perform the operation please make sure to power down both the amplifiers. It is as simple as it is just disconnection of them from the power supply. There is one easy way to do this. It is just disconnecting from the car battery the positive cable clamp either with wrenches or pliers so as to keep it inactive throughout the process of bridging.
While buying an amplifier please do check for the presence of the bridge switch. In most amplifiers it is present at the back edge of the amplifier which can be easily spotted. If it is not in bridge mode set it back to that mode. In the next step ½ inch insulation is stripped off from the wire at both ends.
The most important thing to be done is the connection of the wires. The positive terminal of one amplifier holds one end of the wire while the other end is held by the negative terminal of the other amplifier. This can be performed by wrapping them around its corresponding terminal and then screwing them down. There is a clear distinction between the positive and negative terminals which is given by its colour difference where red indicates positive and black indicates negative terminal.
The speakers and the terminals in the bridged amplifier can be connected by the wire. The positive wire is connected to the terminal which is positive and in the same way negative is connected to the negative of the speaker.
