There are many reasons for the radio to get repaired and stop working suddenly. But one major reason that many have come across is due to the blown out fuse. The fuse may be damaged either in the car that is attached to the radio or the audio system of the car or the fuse that is available individually for the radio. The radios that are bought separately from the market alone have these individual fuses. There are two important steps that can be followed to overcome this fault. One is to locate the damaged fuse and the next step is to replace it. Though it sounds easy it needs skill and knowledge to do this. The first step is to locate the fuse. For this the vehicle is turned off. The fuse box may in different locations depending on the making of the automobile. It may be below the steering wheel, around the glove holder, or below the covering of the car. The dash board is unscrewed and removed to reveal the fuse box. The dash board may be held by additional clips.

Once the fuse box is found, remove it and find the particular fuse that connects the radio. This can be done by following the image that is provided in the cover of the fuse box. Once the fuse is located, the fuse is necessarily checked for damage like burnt side. This may be blackened if blown. This fuse is removed.

Another fuse similar to the dimensions of the fuse that was blown is bought from a near by automobile dealer. The new fuse is pushed back to the original position slowly and has to fit in properly. The direction of the fuse must also be ensured to be the same as that of the rest of the fuses. After replacing the engine may be turned on and radio is checked.

The radio would have worked if the damage was with the fuse in the car. If that is not the case, the fuse in the radio would have got damaged. To check this, the dash board is removed after disconnecting the battery of the car. The radio is then pulled carefully so that the connections are not disconnected. The fuse is present in the behind of the car stereo. This is removed and checked for damage.

If it is damaged, it replaced by a similar one. Fuses are easily available in any shop that deals with hardware. The new fuse is then replaced in the same position and radio is inserted back to its position. It is then checked.

This is one of the easiest instructions on how to change a fuse in a car radio is useful and is understandable by anyone.
