Chrysler is a big multi national company. It has many divisions under it for producing various types of cars. Under that Dodge division manufactures Dodge Caliber in the year 2006. It falls in compact segment range. This car replaced the Dodge neon. It follows PM platform and has layout of both front engine and 4 wheel drive. The body style is hatch back of 5 doors. The assembling operations happen in USA in Illinois. The transmissions are manual of both 5 speeds and 6 speed. This model is closely related to Mitsubishi Lancer, jeep compass, Mitsubishi Outlander and jeep patriot. Its length and width are 1.75 meters and 4.71 meters respectively. It has a long wheel base of 2.63 meters and is 60 inches high. Chrysler used Caliber to make a mark globally. It was widely sold in China and Australia. Its weighs around 1400 kgs. It fared very well in crash test on frontal side and moderate performance in side crash. With optional airbags included its performance and thus the rating went up.
The various models include R/T model, SXT,ST, and SRT4. All these models came to wheel nearly at the same time in mid year of 2006. The cars looked very cute in design and many were attracted to buy the cars even before it came to market by the promos and advertisement campaigns. SRT4 model was launched in Chicago show for automobiles as a replacement for the previous Neon model. Few of the special features include side molding, anti lock system of brakes, disc brakes and high performance suspension. The wheels which measures 17 inch were made up of aluminum and uses GEMA engine and colored seat inserts. The sports model has alloyed wheels. It also had audio system with 9 speakers. These sports models were very famous in United Kingdom. R/T model differs from other models in having handles for the door and type of fog lights used. The steering wheel was more effective in speed control. Also it was better with respect to audio control. It was wrapped by leather which gave it a nice and firmer grip for handling.

The engine delivered a powered of nearly 150 HP in SE model. However it did not have features like door locks and power windows. New channels of sales happened because of this car launch mainly capturing Asian markets in countries like India, China, Singapore and Japan. SXT model offers more options for engines unlike in other models. Each model had few advantages and disadvantages. So customers made their choice keeping their preferences in mind. It is still prevalent in market because of its stylish features and modern facilities. However this car is expensive when compared with other cars of same segment with slightly less features. Major sales of this car happened only by its creative ideas and the marketing team even came up with rewards for the public who came up with best tag line for advertisements. The engine gave a maximum torque of 359 Nm in SRT4 model. The radio dash kit like in any other car constitutes usual adaptors (here its neon type) and keys for removal and fitting and panel with plates. Plates were common in black color.
