Whether you’re still learning to sing or already a professional singer, the bottom line is that, your limited voice range has stopped you from singing certain songs especially with the one with high notes and pitch. As defined, vocal range is the range of notes that you can reach with your singing voice. Some people find it hard to sing low notes while a lot of people struggle with high notes. It is a fact that high notes are difficult to reach, and maybe you are thinking that they are just for divas in the music industry. This is not true, even you can learn to sing high notes. With effort and determination you are capable of reaching those high notes also.

But first we have to distinguish between the three registers of the human voice. The first register called the chest voice. Chest voice is the deepest and most comfortable register for most people to sing. This is the vocal register that you talk in. It is called chest voice because the sound resonates deep within the chest cavity.
The next voice register is called the head voice. It is called head voice because the notes are higher and lighter. With this register, the sound resonate within the nasal and head cavities. This is commonly heard in opera and classical singers.
Another register is the falsetto. It is sometimes called the false voice because it can be produced at almost any frequency. This type of register is very light and airy and your vocal chords are not fully together.
The last register is called the mixed voice or middle voice. This register is the answer to hitting high notes, like the ones that you hear from famous singers. This is between the chest voice and head voice. This type of register is a balance between the two voices. If you have spent your life hitting high notes by pulling your chest voice, you are doing the wrong thing. It you are doing this, it is very painful and it can cause damage to your vocals and may eventually lead to cysts on your vocal chords.
Below are steps on how you can learn to sing higher:
•The first step in learning to sing higher is by doing warm up for your vocals every day. The voice is a muscle so it is very important to exercise and stretch it.
•The next step is to learn your voice range and see how you can sing. And try to find songs where the notes are near the top of your voice range.
•It is also very important to rest your voice and refrain from practicing all day. An hour or two of practice everyday is just enough.
•Then find a song that will showcase your range. Select songs that will take you to the top of your voice range but not above it.
•Do not rush things. Take it slowly and one day at a time. Patience is very important so you must have a lot of it. Within the next few months i’m sure you can learn to sing higher.
