Chrysler is an automaker in the United States of America which has its headquarters in Michigan. It was founded in the year 1925 and since then it has been manufacturing different types of automobiles. Presently due to the recession it had encountered bankruptcy and declared its partnership with Fiat, an Italian automaker. It has been involved in manufacturing automobiles in the following classes: minivans, utility vehicle, and battery cars also. The Chrysler PT Cruiser was launched in the year 2000 and was under the class of compact car. It had a very different external appearance since it looked like a retro version of a car. It was released as both a sedan and hatchback. Later in 2005 a convert able car was also released. The manufacture was done by three divisions of Chrysler.
After the manufacture of the body parts the assembly of it was done at Chrysler plants in Mexico and Austria. It is available as a hatchback or sedan with five doors and two doors convert able. The transmission was of two types manual and automatic. The manual was five speeds and the automatic had four speeds. It could accommodate five persons without much difficulty. The fuel efficiency of the car made it classified as a Truck, but based on the size it was more of a compact car. Initially, when the car was released many people was impressed by its retro look, the number of bookings exceeded the rate of manufacture. In the year of its release, it won the car of year in North America. The safety system of the car was not fully satisfied. It was about 60 . The impact test had been better because of the airbags and height of the seats. The impact test on front side was not up to the mark.

As other automobiles the car underwent changes periodically. Although the external appearance did not very much, the engines were modified. Some more changes like the anti lock brakes that would be very helpful in icy roads. The airbags were modified to be released even if there was a side impact. The radio dash kit is of higher level than others since it had an option for mp3 player and not only compact disc player. The radio system could also play the satellite radio. The cars had only single unit for playing the CD and were available with modified adaptors. These adaptors helped the customer by going for any of the standard radios whose dimensions were universal.
These adaptors are available in many different colours and can be selected according to the colour of the interiors. Due to the high level of anticipation of the people while booking for it many reviews were done and did not sound very favorable. It was believed to be a low costing wagon and the looks were funny giving a retro shape. If the fuel efficiency is not a major concern this car would be suitable. The seats are high and it had wide opening doors and this was an advantage for people with disability. Apart from all these facts, the car still survives a lot of criticism.
