Hobbs announces candidacy for Audrain County Presiding Commissioner

Today it is with great excitement that I announce my candidacy for Presiding Commissioner of Audrain County. I have been a lifelong resident of Audrain County and in fact the Hobbs family has called Audrain County home since 1941 and in fact the Hobbs family has called Audrain County home since 1941. I have had the privilege to represent the citizens of Audrain County in Jefferson City as State Representative for seven years and look forward to using those experiences to continue the excellent work that has been done by our retiring presiding commissioner,” Representative Steve Hobbs said in a press release.
“During my tenure in Jefferson City I served on the Budget and Agri-Business Committees and was able to secure funding for many projects here at home specifically the Plant Science Center. I am looking forward to working here at home to continue to create jobs and new opportunities for the citizens of Audrain County,” he added.
“I, like many who love and call Audrain County home, want to make sure that it continues to be a vibrant community with a healthy economy, strong infrastructure, and a safe place for our children and grandchildren. I look forward to finishing my last year of service as State Representative and look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve the people of Audrain County as their Presiding Commissioner,” Hobbs concluded

Hobbs has built his life in central Missouri. He was born in Mexico on Feb. 5, 1960 and is a graduate of Mexico High School. In 1979, Hobbs bought his first farm in Audrain County. In 1997, he became president of Hobbs Farms, Inc., the company he started with his father, Dean.
Hobbs has been active in the community for many years. He currently sits on the board of the Audrain/Montgomery County Red Cross. He is a member of the Audrain County Farm Bureau and has served as president, secretary, treasurer, board member and legislative chairman. He also served the Missouri Farm Bureau Beef Advisory Council as chairman, and member of the Resolutions Board. He is a member and past president of the Audrain Cattlemen’s Association, former board member of Mexico MFA Oil, and Extension Council Representative of the local MFA Exchange Board.
Hobbs was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2002. He currently serves as the chairman of the Special Standing Committee on Infrastructure and Transportation Funding and member of the Special Standing Committee on Health Insurance, Agri-Business and the Budget Committee. Best known for his work on private property rights, Hobbs passed landmark eminent domain reform in 2006.
Steve and his wife, Carolyn (Heerboth), continue to reside in Mexico with their family, and attend Rush Hill Community Church. They have two daughters who attend Mexico Public Schools. Together with his mother, Billie, they grow corn, soybeans and wheat.
