Buyer's Guide to Moccasins

History of Moccasins

Per various online databases (and my own knowledge database that has been maintained since a third grade unit on Native American tribes), moccasins were a shoe staple to Native Americans and even hunters and settlers. Since that time, moccasins have withstood the test of times and are still very popular and trendy in the fashion world.

The term moccasin was first used around the 16th century by Native American tribes in Virginia. Moccasins not only provided comfort, but moccasins provided protection from the elements and allowed Native Americans to walk silently as they hunted for food and their livelihood.

You may not have to wear moccasins to hunt for food, but you may like to have a pair of moccasins to provide relief for your feet. I enjoy my Pour La Victoire platforms heels and my fancy cork heeled slingbacks. I also think a pair of red pumps can make my legs standout in a crowd. Pedicures and footbaths work wonders, but every now and then my feet breathe a sigh of relief as I slip on a pair of moccasins.

Minnetonka Moccasins

Minnetonka moccasins are made from the inside out and lack a permanent form. This proves to be beneficial as your feet help moccasins stronger and durable. Because of the intricate and durable craftsmanship, moccasins will not rear or rip apart without a fight. The inside of Minnetonka Moccasins are lined with lambs' wool and provide your feet with much needed comfort. Moccasins are simple, but certain beading and varying vibrant hues make moccasins fashionable and fun to wear.

How to Wear Moccasins

'But how can I wear moccasins without looking like a college student leaving the dorm room for an 8am class,' you may ask. We all know the trends that Uggs and Crocs brought and we can cringe at the very thought of grown women walking around with their dusty feet stuffed in Crocs. Let's not forget our fellow women of all sizes who deem it appropriate to wear cut off mini skirts and Uggs on a daily basis.

Do not fear. You too can wear moccasins without appearing to be a disgrace to your family. Since moccasins are very tribal in their appearance do not go overboard. Keep your outfit simple as all eyes will gravitate towards your feet.

Think:

Denim bottom + cotton Henley top

Knee length skirt + fitted top

Wide tribal belt + knit dress

Shorts + tee

Baby doll dress + chunky necklace

When your feet begin to beg for mercy, you know it's time to give them a break. Use Like.com to search for moccasins with intricate detail, embellishment, and vibrant hues. Give your feet the comfort they deserve without sacrificing the fashion statement you crave'treat yourself to a pair of moccasins.
