The Best Selling Natural Skin Care Moisturizer or the Best?

Just because it is the best selling natural skin care moisturizer does not mean that it is the most effective or the safest. Sales figures are generated primarily through advertising and marketing campaigns. Some companies prefer to spend their money on the most effective ingredients and wait on you to come to them.

When a product is heavily advertised on TV, radio or in glossy magazine ads, you can bet that it does not contain effective ingredients. The manufacturers cannot make affordable products, pay for advertising, pay for celebrity endorsements and still use the most effective ingredients, because that would cost too much.

You do see some products that are highly advertised and contain effective ingredients, but the price tags that accompany those solutions are double, triple or even quadruple what they should be. I have seen consumers pay hundreds of dollars for tiny tubes of serums that can be purchased for far better prices.

There is no doubt that cheap products are not safe or effective, either. If the best selling natural skin care moisturizer costs far less than what competitors are charging, you would be wise to carefully evaluate the ingredients, before you buy it, too.

Ingredients that you want to avoid include petrolatum, mineral oil and paraffin. They are considered naturally occurring ingredients, but they are derived from crude oil. They are not actually moisturizing ingredients, but you will find them in practically every popular product on the market.

Plant based oils, including grape seed and jojoba, are moisturizing. They are quickly absorbed, leave no greasy feeling and do not clog the pores.

If the best selling natural skin care moisturizer contains collagen or elastin, then you are wasting your money. Those proteins are important to the skin’s health. They make up the elastic fibers responsible for the skin’s firmness. But, they must be made by the body. There are ingredients that stimulate the production of elastic fibers and new skin cells, too. One of them is a different kind of protein.

Collagen and elastin must be softened using harsh chemicals and high heats that make a kind of gelatin of the proteins. Further cooking the gelatin turns it into glue. Imagine how that feels on your face after a long day of work.

The protein keratin can be processed gently, without denaturalizing it. The result is an emollient that penetrates deeply and feels luxurious.

One would hope that the best selling natural skin care moisturizer would contain that kind of active keratin, but it is new to the market and since it is a naturally occurring compound, quantities are limited.

One of the main reasons that synthetics are so popular is because of public demand. If a company wants to continue to grow, it must be able to keep up with demand. In some cases, only synthetics will allow them to do that.

So, that is why the best selling natural skin care moisturizer probably does not contain the most effective ingredients. Limited quantities are available.
