SDX5-400W is a high capacity AIT-5 tape that has been designed by Sony for secure, economical and reliable backup storage. SDX5-400W backup tape supports the WORM feature while the non-WORM enabled version of the Sony AIT-5 format is the SDX5-400C AIT-5 tape. Each of these AIT-5 media tapes boasts 1.04 Terabytes with 2.6:1 compression. Their native capacity is 400 GB. The AIT-5 tape drive is based on 3.5 inch form factor and features a buffer (96 MB) that is very useful in minimizing the buffer overruns. The buffer has also helped to ease the management of data throughput. 24 Mbps transfer speed is sustained in the Sony’s AIT5 tape drive which has been optimized and is ideal for majority of the servers (windows based).
