I scoffed when I first heard Salehoo proclaim themselves to be more than an online directory. "Same thing - only prouder", I presumed.
Plenty of companies claim they are more than what they are, but in my experience, it is all just a form of promotion. If a supermarket renames itself as a megastore, it doesn't change the fact they are still only a supermarket. If a wholesale directory calls itself 'Salehoo', it doesn't make it more than a directory. It just sets us up for disappointment.

Alas, there are always exceptions. Turns out Salehoo have a 'Learning and Training Center', which is under their 'Education' tab on their website. It also turns out to be pretty useful, especially for those that are new to wholesale sourcing and eBay selling. It's an added treat.
"What's so useful about the 'Learning and Training Center' then?" I hear you ask.
Well, I was asking the same thing.
Firstly, there is LOTS of useful information there. What made it sweeter for me was that it was unexpectedly useful. Call me ignorant, but I really didn't know about some of the things I read there (to be honest I did have less experience when I first visited). Anyway, I prefer to think that it is because Salehoo's Learning and Training Center is actually really helpful.
All the information is nicely sorted into sensible categories such as 'Finding and Sourcing', 'Business Setup', and 'Scam Prevention'. Click on one and it will take you to a comprehensive range of articles pertaining to that category.
And, there is something for everyone. There are specific articles for sellers residing in the USA, UK, Canada, and so on. As an example, there are separate guides on how to register a business in each of these countries. Other articles are labelled as beginner or intermediate guides.
Which brings me to the drawback of this feature - once you've mastered all of this, there's not much left here for you. But boy did it help me get to my Powerseller status.
If you're starting out as an online seller, this is the place for you. What's more, they also give you the opportunity to receive their Importing 101 course, and their Salehoo Alert software (very useful if you plan to sell on eBay), for free.
So, the lesson is (well it was for me anyway): Sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised by a service. The Learning and Training Center at Salehoo certainly stopped my scoffing mid-track. Take my advice, don't be too quick to discount what Salehoo offers - its extra services such as the Learning and Training Center really do mean they offer more than just a directory for online sellers.
