Jim Corbett National Park ranks as the oldest national park in India. Guests can even stay in one of the accommodations situated inside this park.

Corbett National Park or Jim Corbett National Park is named after Jim Corbett, a hunter turned conservationist. Prior to its name, it was previously known as Hailey National Park. With the Bengal tiger roaming its vicinity, it has become a protected area in India. This park is considered as India s oldest national park.

Weather conditions in this park are temperate as compared to other protected areas throughout India. In the winter, the temperature varies from 5 degrees C to 30 degrees C.You ll also experience foggy mornings here. In the summer, the temperature doesn t rise to more than 40 degrees C. As for rainfall, it ranges from heavy throughout the monsoon season to light throughout the dry season.

Here are some accommodations you can find in Jim Corbett National Park
Tiger Camp – This lodging is situated in Corbett National Park itself. One side of the camp is bordered by thick jungles while the Kosi River lies on the other side. The camp provides 4 deluxe rooms, 10 cottages and a couple of tents. Four air cooled Kumaoni style cottages feature a 12 x 12 living area as well as 6 large cottages having a 14 x 16” living area and a double bed, clothes rack, coffee table, mat flooring, air conditioner and chairs among others are offered to guests. Each of these cottages showcases an attached Western style hot shower and toilet. There is also a Gol Ghar dining hall serving buffet style Chinese, Continental and Indian cuisines. In case of electric failure, they have a stand by generator – assuring a full power backup.

Local performance and folk music can be arranged with the staff. They have trained jeep drivers and naturalists which will guide you through birding walks, jungle visits and natural history activities. Activities you ll enjoy here include Mahaseer fishing, wildlife viewing through jeep rides or elephant rides, bird watching either on foot or on a jeep, nature walks and angling.

For a full day with a guide, the rate is Rs 1200. If you ll hire a vehicle, it costs Rs 3000 for a whole day. Fishing permits cost Rs 200 a day for each rod. Hideaway River Lodge – This lodge is established to offer a genuine wilderness experience through Corbett National Park. This accommodation lies in the center of the Corbett reserve forest along Ramganga River.

Lush subtropical forests, bountiful avifauna and flora surround the area. Its land area is estimated as 3 acres and is protected with solar fencing structures. The Ramganga River is only a stone throw away. Some of the activities you can enjoy here include Mahaseer fishing, jeep and elephant safari as well as nature walks, village walks and bird watching.

This lodging has 10 camps. Each camp has Swiss cottage tents with thatched roofs and attached deluxe baths as well as toilet tents. There are also 5 superior tents with 5 14 ft. by 12 ft. bedrooms, 6 ft. x 12 ft. bathrooms and a 4 ft. x 12 ft. private verandah. Other facilities include running cold and hot water, attached baths and solar powered lanterns. They also have a thatched multi cuisine roof restaurant that offers interactive cooking.
