You've definitely heard the old saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I know it's a cliché, but it's true!
If you're one of the many who think that skipping breakfast will help you lose weight, then let me tell you that this is not true. Other people who skip breakfast offer excuses such as being too busy to eat it.

In addition to helping you slim down quick, breakfast is good for overall health. Here's why… Your body goes without food and water all night, while you're asleep. Upon awakening, the body's protein levels are depleted, blood sugar levels are low, and the body is dehydrated. Also, your metabolism will have significantly slowed down.
By morning time, the body is essentially operating in survival mode. Providing the body with the nutrients it needs helps to reverse the damaging processes the body endures while in this survival mode.
Survival mode forces your body to store fat and waste healthy muscle tissue. Eating Breakfast will set your body's metabolic processes into motion. In addition to boosting your metabolism, a healthy breakfast ensures that muscle catabolism is reversed, blood sugar levels are restored, and the body is hydrated.
The longer your body functions in survival mode, the harder it will be to activate your body's fat burning processes and methods. It is best to eat breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up. Of course, if you really want to slim down quick, it's better if you eat your breakfast as soon as you can.
Having established the importance of eating breakfast, let's turn our attention to what should be eaten. It's unwise to severely restrict your caloric intake at breakfast; this is because your body has already been deprived of nutrition all night. Calories are the body's fuel for the day, and the body needs plenty of energy to maintain activity levels throughout the day.
Your efforts to slim down quick will be boosted by adding 100 to 200 calories more to your breakfast than to your other meals. Fresh fruits, low-fat yogurt, and other such simple carbohydrates are quickly absorbed by the body, making them ideal for breakfast. Morning is the best time to eat simple carbohydrates, since your blood sugar levels are low and need the boost; however, they should be avoided at other times during the day as they can cause imbalances in them.
Also make sure to include a high quality, lean protein source to your breakfast to reverse muscle breakdown and protect your lean body mass. You can find the protein you need in egg whites or whey protein shakes.
Water should be the beverage of choice during breakfast. In the morning, the body is considerably dehydrated, because it has been deprived of water all night. About 10 to 16 ounces of water must be had during or before breakfast.
To slim down quick, drink lots of water as it helps in burning fat and building muscle; it also provides a host of other health benefits.
