Whats the Ultimate Probiotic?

It is common in the twenty first century and in western society for people to have unhealthy digestion and bacteria imbalances in their digestive tract. These conditions carry a lot of evident symptoms which many people consider normal. Some of these include allergies, food sensitivities, frequent colds or flu's, yeast infections, constipation, diarrhea etc.

Antibiotics is a common measure used to fight many bacterial infections and diseases, however while fighting off the bad bacteria, antibiotics also kill off good bacteria such as the very important Lactobacillus. Many people who commence antibiotic courses suffer problems such as diarrhoea, yeast infections and fevers due to this depletion in necessary bacteria. It is therefore common for these people to supplement probiotics in association with their antibiotic course. Probiotics can help improve digestion, boost the immune system, prevent irritable bowel syndrome, prevent diarrhea and help detoxify the body.

Many of the medications and antibiotics in modern medicine, while offering a cure for a particular symptom, are harmful to our overall health. Probiotics as a treatment for diseases and other conditions is a healthy, natural and long term solution. Probiotics supplements are able to boost the immune system and prevent harmful diseases before they occur. It is also able to improve digestion enabling the body to absorb more nutrients and maintain health.

In each probiotics supplement there are billions of micro organisms. Of these, the most highly regarded is the Lactobacillus Acidophilus. Lactobacillus Acidophilus is a genus of bacteria, considered to be a major part of the lactic acid bacteria group. The name Lactobacillus resembles its function of converting lactose and other sugars into lactic acid. They appear commonly throughout the gastrointestinal tract, mouth and vagina, and are considered harmless and beneficial. The Acidophilus is the most effective species of Lactobacillus because of its unmatched ability to survive the digestive system before it reaches the bowels. A high concentration of this species of bacteria in the digestive system prevents over growth of disease causing bacteria. Unfortunately the lifestyles and diets of the majority of people in western society today are creating a harsh environment for the Acidophilus to survive in. This is causing many of the problems mentioned above, however it is becoming so common and even considered normal to be suffering from these conditions. Common foods in our diets that harm these good bacteria include coffee, tea, soft drinks. All of these contribute to killing the acidophilus bacteria. Antibiotics and the fluoride in our toothpaste are both considered beneficial to our well being however both of these play a massive role in reducing the probiotic bacteria in our digestive system.

Probiotics are generally induced as a supplement in capsule or powder form. However the benefits of these bacteria were discovered originally in foods such as yogurt, cheese, pickles, beer and wine. However the supplements available today provide a much higher concentration of the probiotics acidophilus enabling us to maintain efficient amounts of the bacteria in our digestive tract. There are many brands and types of probiotics supplements on the market today, each containing different concentrations of bacteria and different types of the Lactobacillus genus. It can be hard to determine the best probiotics supplement, however there are a number of studies and research that has been conducted to determine the best probiotics. Many reviews and testimonials can be found on websites that compare and rate the different brands and types of these supplements.
