A coffee drink made from hot steaming milk and espresso shot is called Latte. It is derived from Italian word "Caffelatte" which means coffee and milk. Latte Art is an art that creates beautiful patterns by pouring steam milk into your espresso mug. The different design that is created on the surface of resulting latte looks amazingly beautiful and reflects the artists true artistic expertise. One can also create a pattern by drawing it on the top foamy layer of latte. Latte Art is not as simple as it may appear, as the espresso shot and the steaming milk must satisfy certain challenging conditions. Moreover, the pattern on the Latte also depends on the experience of the barista, the espresso machine and last but not the least, Latte Art typically depends on how well the artist pours it!
For this, you should steam milk till you get the wanted level of lather on it. While you pour this steamed milk, the froth part floats over the top of the milk, making two separate layers of liquid milk and froth. Now the most challenging part is how you pour it on the espresso shot. The espresso shot and the froth on the milk has to be perfect. The latte jug is to be tilted accurately while pouring the foamy milk on the espresso shot to form some unique design as the lather rises.

An experienced barista will be able to tell you the amount of foam needed to create beautiful latte art. Too much lather will give your coffee a white layer and little lather gives your coffee light-brown even drink with no latte art on it. The froth on the milk should be exact, along with this, the milk should appear shiny with small bubbles equally distributed. The espresso shot needs to be proper too. The espresso should be extracted within 20 to 30 seconds. Further, you should check the foam on the espresso shot, it must be creamy brown in color. This is nothing but crema. When you pour the frothy milk on this perfect espresso shot, the milk rises and meets the brown foamy layer of the espresso shot, this creates a lovely design in two different hues, white and brown.
Rosetta is a flower shaped pattern that is most desired form of Latte Art. The latte cup is kept slanted in one direction and because of this slanting position of the latte cup, the lathered milk that is poured, which fills on one side. The barista needs to be alert and move the latte mug sideways, and at the same time, pour the froth milk in it. He or she then finishes the design with a quick strike, which forms the stem of the flower. However, one can make amazing patterns on Latte, but your experience and your creativity plays a major role. A skilled hand creates amazing patterns. Your guests will truly be impressed with your Latte art. Remember that your espresso shot needs to be correct, your milk froth must be correct and your art of pouring and leaning the latte jug must be artistic enough to form beautiful latte art.
