Multivitamins: Major Supplements for Muscle Gain

A big issue that is currently being debated in the supplement industry has to do with taking multivitamins and how they enhance health in and out of the gym.

Do supplements for muscle gain such as multivitamins actually benefit bodybuilders?

Your body is really made up of a bunch of chemical reactions. Plus, every reaction is fueled by tiny proteins referred to as enzymes; they lower the amount of energy required for each specific reaction.

The shape of the enzyme needs to be altered to do its job correctly, and it requires a "co-enzyme" to help with that process. Co-enzymes and vitamins are the same thing. Ultimately, vitamin supplements for muscle gain are very important, considering the major part they play in fueling the thousands of chemical reactions within the human body. They are essential for health and metabolism, but they are also a key ingredient to the process of building muscles.

Important both in and out of the gym as supplements for muscle gain, these vitamins perform the following functions…

Vitamin A: This vitamin is crucial to protein synthesis and the body's ability to combine amino acids to form new muscle tissue. It also helps in the creation of glycogen; carbohydrates in the body are stored in the form of glycogen.

Vitamin B2: This vitamin helps burn fat and enables the body to get energy from carbs; it is also known as "riboflavin."

Vitamin B3: Also known as "niacin," it increases vasodilation within the muscle tissue, helping you to appear fuller and more vascular.

Vitamin B6: Also known as "pyridoxine," it is very important because of its effect on protein digestion. Muscle-building diets need more protein than most people do, so it's important to get a higher amount of vitamin B6 than most people would take.

Vitamin B12: Also known as "cobalamin," vitamin B12 ensures that the brain and muscle tissue are communicating efficiently, and this has a direct effect on muscle growth and coordination.

Biotin: Since this vitamin helps the body metabolize amino acids, it also works to create the energy you require for a good workout.

Vitamin C: Plays a big part in amino acid metabolism and the formation of collagen. Plus, vitamin C works to produce steroid hormones and enhances the absorption of iron. Moreover, vitamin C is also a hugely powerful antioxidant that helps to wash out free radicals from your system, thereby preventing cellular damage.

Vitamin D: This helps improve the absorption of both calcium and phosphorus.

Calcium is very important during muscle contractions and also helps to maintain strong bones and joints.

Phosphorus is involved in the synthesis of ATP, the usable form of energy within the body.

Vitamin E: his powerful antioxidant is important for seeking out and neutralizing free radicals. This is used to flush out much of the natural metabolic waste products found inside the body and to promote the health of cell membranes.

Hard training bodybuilders certainly require higher amounts of these vitamins than the average sedentary Joe, as these vitamins are depleted during intense sessions in the gym.

So, are multivitamins necessary supplements for muscle gain?
