Beach chairs are very comfortable when lounging in the beach. Check out the different types and side functionalities offered.

When going to the beach, you will see lots of beach chairs around where you can lounge and relax under the sun. Some lay down on beach chairs while getting a sun tan. Others sit on it while enjoying the view of the vast ocean.

The more common beach chairs have umbrellas attached on them in the center. The umbrella protects against sunburns and gives a cool shade. These are usually of bright and lively colors that add to the attraction of beaches.

There are so many different types of beach chairs if you will look at them closely. Some are detachable and foldable. These are the ones you can easily tow away wherever you want to place them. They are made of lighter materials like plastic or aluminum so they could be easily carried around.

The fixed types are the ones buried deep in the sands and set permanently. Obviously, these are not movable and more often made of more durable materials.

Some beach chairs have side functionalities. You will see some of them with cupholders on the arm rest. Instead of pulling a table nearby for your drinks, your cups can rest on these holders while you lay back to enjoy the beach.

Some beach chairs also feature a reclining seat. The angle of the back rest can be adjusted accordingly, depending on whether you want to lie down completely to sleep or just tilted slightly while reading a book.

Others have wheeled feet so they can be easily dragged or pushed from one place to another. However, these are useless in the sand. These are only normally seen by the beach side in the cemented floors.

The chaise types have overhead screens and are great for pools. These are however bulkier. The footrest equipped beach chair is one of the most famous because it is ergonomically designed for comfort.

Beach chairs are usually made of wood or aluminum. Wood is stronger and more durable but aluminum is lighter. Aluminum has the tendency to disfigure when overexposed in the sun.

Beach chairs come in two basic heights: low boy and high boy. Low boy sits close to the sand about 6 12 inches high. The high boy is similar to common lawn chairs, about 18 24 inches high.

The framework is usually of plastic polypropylene, nylon and canvass fabric. Polypropylene is durable but can cause burn back when exposed to sun. Nylon is also durable but should be kept out of bonfires. One popular nylon variation is the nylon ripstop fabric which is interlocked nylon threads. Canvass fabric is popular because it prevents sliding, but it easily fades when exposed to the sun on long periods.

The most popular brands include: Rio, Debro, Foldaway, Outer Banks, and Wonder Wheels. Debro is popular for their folding beach chairs. Rio is known for their amazing beach chair with wheels.

Some manufacturers also offer baby beach chair with umbrellas and miniature ones. Some offer custom prints on the beach chairs.

To prolong the life of the beach chair some manufacturers designed a packaging or sort of beach chair jacket. They protect it from rain, dust, and rough winds.

Although beach chairs are normally seen in the beach areas, it can also be used in other outdoor functions like watching a baseball game or camping out.
