Playa del Carmen is the fastest growing tourist destination in Mexico today. In just a decade, this once small fishing settlement developed to a trendy town resort.
Playa del Carmen is a world renowned tourist destination in Mexico. It is located about 35 miles south of Cancun in the heart of Mayan Riviera. This small city at the coast of Caribbean Sea was just a fishing town a decade ago. In a span of ten years, it has become a paradise for those pursuing their Caribbean dreams.

This place is known for its stunning, white sand beaches. With its subtropical climate, visitors are coming over to see for themselves what Playa has to offer. It is a small city just walking distance to the beach. Wherever you go, you will feel the cool breeze coming from the ocean.
The main street that runs parallel to the beach is the 5th Avenue. This street is being referred to as pedestrian walkway. It is also the tourists’ zone of Playa. You can also go to nearby ecological and water parks. These recreation centers offer fun and adventure like swimming in underground rivers, cave diving and forest trekking. If you are looking for a wonderful spot to dive, you can take a boat to get to the Great Mayan Reef, the second largest coral reef system. It is 33 feet deep, very ideal for scuba diving.
Playa del Carmen has many fine dining places too. There are a lot of restaurants ready to serve you in a memorable dining experience. They serve French, American and Italian dishes. Mexican restaurants are mostly outside 5th Avenue.
If you are the type of person who always likes to shop, Playa is the place for you. Shops, jewelry outlets, boutiques, as well as assorted kinds of stores are here. Banks, pharmacies, supermarkets and other establishments are located downtown and nearby. You can also take a look at the New 5th Avenue, the continuation of the old 5th Avenue.
There are also choices of hotels, restaurants and shops here. Outside 5th Avenue, you can find stores selling inexpensive items. In fact, between 5th and 30th Avenue, located are all interesting stores selling everything you can think of. You can also buy all the latest trends in fashion here.
Playa del Carmen is also a place for meeting new people, getting to know other culture and understanding them.
