Vacation Time Buddies – You And DISH Network’s DVR

Last year, I went on vacation with my family. When I came home, my buddies told me that I had missed the most important football game of the season, and we also realized we had missed the season finale of our favorite TV show. That was not a good homecoming present.
Now, we could have scheduled our vacation around our favorite television shows, but that requires way too much planning, and seems kind of silly. So how do we make everyone happy? I never have to miss another game winning catch, and now we will always know “who done it” at the end of the season.

Before we had the DVR (back in the olden days), my daughter was on the news one night. Of course, my son had a baseball game, so he and I missed the live newscast. My wife was supposed to tape it. When we got home and tried to watch the tape, it had only recorded static. I never got to see my little girl’s news interview.
This past week, my son’s baseball team was highlighted in the community sports section on the news. I was at work when it aired, but I prerecorded my DVR, and watched it as soon as I got home! Now, I’ll never have to miss anything important on television again (or I won’t have to miss anything fun on television because I’m doing something else important)!
Our DVR has been such an amazing help in coordinating our family time! Not only do we never have to miss important shows, but now we can watch them when we are all together! This year, my family is planning another vacation. I know it is going to be right in the middle of the World Series, but I also know that I can record every game, and watch them at my own leisure when we return. No more missing games, no more missing shows, no more listening to my kids say they missed that new Nickelodeon movie (even though I know it will be replayed a thousand times)!
