Perhaps simply because of the way it sounds, or perhaps due to a number of aggressive marketing campaigns in the recent past, Resveratrol has come to be viewed by most people as one of those synthetic chemical formulations (panaceas, as it were) that are said to cure all manner of ills. The true position, about it, however, is that Resveratrol is a naturally occurring substance, borne of interactions between certain special plants and pathogens such as bacteria and fungi. Of course, Resveratrol can also be synthetically produced: as scientists have found ways of replicating the chemical process that give birth to it in their laboratories.
But why the interest with Resveratrol in the first place? Turns out that a number of studies conducted on mice showed that this chemical had the efficacy to resolve most of the health woes that bedevil us, from blood sugar issues (which are increasingly being labeled as the culprits behind the rising cases of type 2 diabetes), to cancer issues (cancer being the number 1 killer of human beings in quite a number of countries) and onto cardiovascular issues – which is an important effect, when you take into consideration the fact that heart related diseases are also among the leading killers of modern times. Indeed, Resveratrol has been shown to increase the lifespan of certain organisms (which has been taken by some researchers to mean that it could perhaps hold the key to extending human life – a key that generations before us so much yearned for; and which they always failed to lay their hands on).

It is important to note, of course, that the experiments that Resveratrol has shown good results in have been on non human subjects, and it is not always guaranteed that what works in mice will also work on humans. Nonetheless, many people have been convinced that the said benefits of Resveratrol – even before its trial on human beings – were too good to be let go: hence the clamor in the recent days to get a hold of this chemical that is now being sold as a nutritional supplement.
One would have to agree with the fact that the way information spreads has changed with time, just by looking at the way information about the benefits of Resveratrol (which is as yet unofficial information) has spread in the relatively short period of time since studies into it began. Consequently, we find a kind of what marketers refer to pull demand on Resveratrol from the people who have gotten to read about its potential benefits from various forums; and who are keen to lay a hold of it; a demand that has seen various pharmaceutical (and pseudo pharmaceutical) players going overboard to make Resveratrol available to the people clamoring for it, a journey that culminated in the discovery of the synthetic process through which Resveratrol could be made.
Ultimately, in as much as it offers even the smallest ray of hope to the people suffering from imminent deaths from diabetes related complications, cardiovascular issues, various cancers and whole plethora of issues that it is said to have the potential to resolve, Resveratrol will remain a highly sought after commodity.
