The United States Department of Defense (DoD) MIL-STD-130 standard for Unique Identification (UID) marking has been established in order to allow for optimized asset, inventory and accounting tracking and control. Construct Two - Issuing Agency Code (IAC), Lot or Batch Number, Part Number and Traceable Number combined into one UID
Different labels are also regulated separately: Free text, Air Transport Association (ATA) and Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), for example. The UID marking for products sold to the military must be designed to specified requirements, which are continually being updated.
