All about Wilmington

Wilmington is New Hanover County’s county seat. It is a city in the state of North Carolina and situated within the southeastern portion of North Carolina. In addition, it is home to several tourist attractions such as the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial and Airlie Gardens as well as the State University of North Carolina and Cape fear Museum.

The city also owns a big historic district. It is a convenient location if you are after the beaches for is only a short drive away from the so called triangle which comprises of Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Other nearby attractions includes the Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, SC as well as the I95 corridors.

Wilmington is popular for its seafood restaurants, historic plantations and breathtaking beaches. This city is also famous for it hospitable, friendly, hardworking and kind residents. According to the 2005 Census, it has more than 96,000 inhabitants. Its racial makeup is 26 percent African American, 70 percent White while the remaining 14 percent make up the other races. There are lots of cultural opportunities here. Tourists and locals enjoy museums, aquariums, festivals, historical sites and theaters, plantations, film studios as well as much more due to its rich culture.

This city lies between the Atlantic Ocean and Cape of Fear River. It has a subtropical and temperate climate all year like the Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The cities as well as its surrounding beaches have this type of climate due to the influence of the Gulf Stream and the Atlantic Ocean, situated about 45 to 60 miles offshore.
