The key to your quest in learning is adequate practice. The beginner lesson will bring you far, but it can be crushing as well. The thing you should always keep in mind is to take one step at a time. There’s no reason why you can’t be an expert pianist. The question is when you are going to be an expert pianist. Supplementing with non conventional training will affect your learning.

Exceptional technique is achieved by understanding the mechanics of the piano and the way you physically execute your performance on this remarkable instrument. One of the common conceptions about piano is a long and arduous process. Many beginners have a tendency to give up learning even before they began. The key to an unrelenting success in learning is in understanding why you are practicing, and aligning that with your musical. Here are some helpful tips for the beginner in their journey.
Practice makes perfect.

It is a common mistake among beginner to get the right notes at the beginning of a song and eventually commend mistake towards the end. The rationale of this is simply lack of focus. As a beginner you must give your full attention. Start over each time to make a mistake. Always keep mind the practice makes perfect. Play it slowly but surely at the beginning and you will see the perfection as you go along. You need to develop your self discipline. It is certainly an effective way to learn the techniques of playing piano.

Understanding the tempo

The most common mistake among learner is that they tend to speed up some parts and suddenly slow down gradually when a more complicated section of the piece follows. It is very important to have a thorough understanding of the tempo of a particular song and be maintained consistently through out the piece, unless provided that it should be played differently. Control of tone and dynamics is primarily dependent on physical training; control of timing is mental. Control of dynamics is control of hammer velocity; control of tone, as we have seen, means control of hammer acceleration.

Piano Action

When seated at the piano you should be able to perfectly balance your arms and hands without playing the notes or feeling any tension at all. Fingers should be naturally curved, playing on the tips of the fingers or fleshy part next to your fingernails. You should form a paw . Knuckles should not be caved in or too high. Knuckles could be fairly flat, but just slightly up, like a bridge.

Wrists should be even with the white keys, never too high or low. Elbows should be out from the body, allowing the weight of your arm to travel freely to your wrists and allowing for horizontal movement across the keys. Always sit up straight, shoulders back, create a small arch in the middle of your back. Imagine a string going up through the center of your body, out of your head. Your pelvic bone slightly turned in towards the piano.
