How to Rent Your Wedding

When you begin your wedding planning your wedding budget will be one the first things you draw up.  For many it brings with it the realization that they simply cannot afford the big dream wedding they were hoping for.  Your options here would range from waiting longer to get until you have saved up enough money; scale down the celebrations and have a smaller, more intimate affair instead or borrow extra cash (not recommended).  But have you considered renting you wedding instead?

There are actually many elements to a wedding that you would ordinarily rent (or hire) anyway.  These could include the ceremony and reception venues, transportation, furniture, crockery and glassware.  But if your budget is tight then here are a few more things that you could rent or hire for your wedding:

1. Wedding Dress - Many brides are aware that they can hire wedding dresses and accessories too, but for most this just isn’t option.  I mean who would want to wear a dress someone else has worn before?  But consider this - the dress you pick and buy at the boutique has likely been made a hundred times already for many other brides, you will not be the only bride in that design this season; can you justify the hundreds of dollars you dress would cost when your budget is already tight? And is it worth spending that much on a dress you will only wear for a few hours on one day?

Renting a gown can open a world of designer gowns which you probably wouldn’t have been able to buy outright and which to rent would cost you just a fraction of the original price.  You also won’t have it hanging in your wardrobe for years to come, whilst you ponder what to do with it!

2. Your Bridal Jewelry - If you fancy wearing some designer jewelry on your wedding day but can’t afford the price tag, then hire it!  You can hire diamond jewels for 1/8 of the retail price.  So you can look a million dollars without having to shell out that much!

3. Centerpieces - Your table centerpieces can cost a pretty penny but you can hire the main components for a fraction of the cost.  Everything from candelabras to birdcages are available you just need to add a few flowers or other decorations.  You also won’t have the problem of what to do with them after the wedding!

4. Place Card Holders - Often one of the first things struck off the list when the budget is tight.  But place card holders can add a certain elegance to your wedding tables, however buying them all can soon add up and you are left with an abundant number of things after the wedding which you will probably never use again!

5. Room Decorations - For most flower arrangements are enough, but if you are having a themed wedding then you will most likely be looking for different decorations to finish your reception room in authentic style.  Look for prop companies or interior hire firms who can rent you various things from trees to wreaths and floating candles.  They will be able to advise you on the best options for your theme and work with you to meet your budget.  They may also deliver everything to your venue and set it up for you.
