They take up just a tiny space in your wallet but don’t let that fool you credit cards pack a lot of loan. You cannot live without them neither can you live with them.

Online transactions are the latest fad and naturally, credit cards come in handy at times like these. There is one misconception about credit cards though and that is credit cards are cards that don’t carry your money. Instead they are like a loan as simple as that.

Credit cards are like knives; you can use them for your own destruction or use them for gaining more power. We all know very well how a credit card can destroy you they are so easy to pull out of the wallet and swipe for anything that catches your fancy.

As for gaining power – well, you could improve your credit rating by using your card wisely. The advantage of a credit card is that the money is already there with you, but how you use it; when you use and how much you spend on it are all at your discretion. You can either spend it frivolously or save the credit for emergencies and other times when you really need to.

You can use it to make small purchases so as to pay them back and get a good credit rating. But if you start splurging to get all your dreams come true on a loan amount then you got to pay a price and a hefty one at that. Credit card interest rates are steep and they would tighten their grip on the jugular if you don’t pay them on time. Late payments don’t only invite penalty, but also negative ratings. The minimum amount due that you see in your credit card statement is what you are supposed to ignore. Pay the full amount you have purchased on time. If you are just paying the minimum amount then there is no way that you will be able to repay the amount you swiped.

If you credit rating is looking downhill and you want to straighten it out then you got two choices. Go for the unsecured bad credit credit card or the secured bad credit credit card. This is almost like going on probation. The credit cards you get here is not to go splurge, but to build a record of prompt payments and thereby getting a good credit.

If you get one credit of this nature, then there will be a lot more knocking your door. Just because they are being offered don’t stuff your wallet with them. Remember, this is not your money. Spend wisely just for repayment and record purposes. Just imagine that you are given some money by somebody to see if you can spend it wisely and return it back promptly. If you do that you will be rewarded with a pat on the back and if not you will be whacked with debt, bad credit rating and a bad life.

It is a must that you go for a card that reports to all the credit bureaus. The idea of this credit card is to build a good credit rating; therefore, you would want the authorities involved in awarding that take notice.

Of course, there are things that you got to be careful with these types of cards too. Since you are desperate just don’t go for any plastic. Start reading the brochures and start asking questions. Get to know everything that you got to know about the credit card. Make sure you pore into the fine print to see if there anything hidden behind the black and white. If you are convinced that it is the right card for you then get it and then chalk out a plan of repayment and get into the good books of credit ratings.
